Warm colors and botanical touches are a common theme in these five designer projects. From a Manhattan skyscraper stunning in shaker-style design to a London flat for Schumacher's European CEO — here are the interiors I’m loving this month.
An Artist's Art Nouveau Apartment
Artist Sergio Roger and his partner Fernando Ansorena have created a heavenly home in this hilltop apartment overlooking Barcelona. Architectural touches, like the curvaceous Art Nouveau plaster fireplace located in the sitting room, provide interest and dimension. When it comes to the color palette, the interiors echo the exterior — a largely neutral, putty-colored backdrop supports pops of bright color throughout.

A Shaker-Style Skyscraper
Heide Hendricks and Rafe Churchill of ELLE DECOR A-List firm, Hendricks Churchill, turned a family’s once stark new-build high-rise on New York’s Upper East Side into a cozy, shaker-style retreat. Hendricks Churchill made sure the home not only fit the family’s aesthetic requests, but that it functioned well for the couple and their young children. A palette of oranges and pinks take center stage as a unifying color, with many floral moments offering a soft, natural touch.

An Art-Filled Penthouse Loft
San Francisco–based interior design firm ABD Studio collaborated with New York architectural studio Frances Mildred on this project where a diverse roster of artworks dot virtually every corner of the sun-filled space. Arguably the home’s most prized asset, the art collection is collectively meant to pay homage to New York City. “Many of these artists were either living and working in New York or inspired by their time in the city,” says the homeowner. The end result is a tactile and sophisticated residence that balances fine art and design in a space that happens to be blessed with spectacular city views.

A Bright and Bold Home from Beata Heuman
Beata Heuman and her team enlivened this once blank canvas in London by cleverly reconfiguring the space and adding in a blend of new and vintage furniture. Designed for a young couple, Heuman and her team brought their signature use of color and pattern to make the home feel warm and inviting. Key features include a painted pink floor in the entryway and primary bedroom along with a library space clad in French polished wood, with custom joinery. Where does the flat go from here? Heuman says, “it’s so unrealistic to think that it’s going to stay how it is, so we offer schemes that have lots of different styles combined so they can naturally add to it and new things will look at home. By doing that, you get more of a sense that it’s been built over time. It was a very good fit with us and them so I have every confidence that they’ll make it look even better. It’s exciting to see what they’ll add.”

A London Flat for Schumacher's European CEO
Despite original low ceilings, poky rooms and odd corridors, Benni Frowein, CEO of the Europe and Middle East arm of American heritage fabric house F Schumacher & Co., could see that this London flat was a space he could reinvent. Over a six-month period, he meticulously managed the entire renovation process. “I was on site at 7am every day to discuss problems or solutions with the contractors, so I could make decisions quickly, allowing them to get on with their work,” he says. In the end, a smart combination of bespoke furniture with vintage finds, inherited pieces and artifacts from around the world fill the new, expertly crafted spaces.
